Dear Ms. Hammond,
Really enjoyed your article, you were right on point until Minneapolis. They do have lots of flights to lots of places, however the place is quite a bore. And as far as travel is concerned, found it hard to believe that you did not select Dubai, UAE. Great place to live, very diverse, safe, good tax free pay, and non-stop flights to more than 5/8ths of the worlds population within 8 hours (Including London, Vienna, and Singapore). Beyond that we can fly non-stop to North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe all within a day. Just sayin…..Minneapolis vs. Dubai, come on!!

Dear Bill, apologies for not seeing this sooner. I’m afraid we shall have to agree to disagree. I’ve visited both Minneapolis and Dubai; I found the former to be a delightful place which much to recommend it. Read your Discover article “The Olderst Building in All 50 States”. Couple of comments. Arizona, I guess you consider Casa Grande a ruin and not a building.
California, Mission Capistrano was the seventh of the 21 missions to be established, some of the earlier six missions should be older.

Hi Geoffrey, thank you for taking the trouble to read The Discoverer and to write. I did look at Casa Grande but it’s a ruin rather than a building so I ruled it out. You’re right, Mission San Juan Capistrano isn’t the oldest in California, but I couldn’t find any evidence of buildings that predate its chapel in any mission that came before it. Often when the missions were founded the structures were temporary and the churches you see today were built later.
